Xiaomi has a really useful function that allows you to play YouTube videos even while the phone is locked. How to listen to podcasts, albums, and playlists on YouTube without using your Xiaomi smartphone.

It’s technically impossible to play a YouTube video in the background on an Android phone without YouTube Premium or YouTube Music. The playback stops when you exit the app or lock your phone. Some tactics require third-party apps, but in general, you should leave your smartphone’s screen on.

• Go to Settings > Extras.
• Activate the function in Video Toolbox.
  Tap Manage video apps in the Video Toolbox menu and toggle YouTube.
• Start your video on YouTube and press the translucent bar on the left or right (depending on your choice).
• Swipe left on the first line of the Video Toolbox menu.
• Press Play video sound with the screen off.

Please keep in mind that this feature is not available in all applications. Additionally, you will have to wade through the advertisements embedded in YouTube videos. While Xiaomi’s solution is undoubtedly inadequate, it does have the advantage of being completely native. There is no need for suspicious third-party software or manual configuration.
