Serif created Affinity Designer as a vector graphics editor for macOS, iPadOS, and Microsoft Windows. Alongside Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher, it is part of the “Affinity trinity.” Affinity Designer is available for purchase on the company’s website, as well as on the Mac App Store, iOS App Store, and Microsoft Store.
Affinity Designer is the replacement to the DrawPlus program that Serif abandoned in August 2017 in order to concentrate on the Affinity product line. It is compatible with common graphics file formats, such as Adobe Illustrator (AI), Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), Adobe Photoshop (PSD), Portable Document Format (PDF), and Encapsulated PostScript (EPS).
Core functionalities of Affinity Designer include vector pen and shape-drawing tools, support for custom vector and raster brushes (including the capability to import Adobe Photoshop (ABR) brushes), dynamic symbols, stroke stabilization, text style management, and vector/pixel export choices.
Apple’s “Best of 2014” list of Mac Program Store and iTunes Store titles in the macOS app category included Affinity Designer as a runner-up. It was also one of the 2015 Apple Design Award winners.
