The Galaxy S22 series is officially here, with three models: the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra. All three phones come with Android 12 and Samsung’s One UI 4 skin on top. Let us show you how to take a Galaxy S22 screenshot or screen recording if you’ve never used an Android phone before.
If you’ve recently used a Samsung phone or tablet, the main options and actions are the same as other One UI devices. Unlike other Android phones, the Galaxy S22 series features a few extra options to snap a screenshot or record a screen. The system settings allow you to change how screenshots and recordings are made and kept.
How to take a screenshot on the Galaxy S22 series
To snap a screenshot, hold down the volume down and power buttons simultaneously. This will take a screenshot of your full screen. But there are additional methods to screenshot.
Also, a touch gesture should be enabled unless you disabled it at some time – visit the Settings app and look for ‘Palm swipe’. This feature allows you to take a screenshot by swiping your hand over the screen from left to right or right to left. It’s basically the same as pushing both buttons at once.
“Ok Google, take a screenshot” works well with Google Assistant. Say “Hey Bixby, snap a screenshot” to Samsung’s speech assistant Bixby. The button combination and motion gesture take longer.
Most of these ways result in a toolbar at the bottom of the screen with extra choices. This allows you to snap a taller screenshot, share it with any program that can import photos, and tag it with hashtags. There’s also a crop button, so you don’t have to search your picture app and open the image there.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra features a S Pen, so capturing screenshots is easier. When you remove the S Pen from the phone, pick ‘Smart select’ from the menu. Then you may draw an outline around the area you wish to capture. Handy.
How to screenrecord on the Galaxy S22 series
Unlike snapshots, there are fewer options to start a fresh screen recording. To start recording, press the ‘Screen recorder’ tile in the quick settings menu, next to the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles. To enable it, hit the three-dot symbol in the top-right corner of the settings panel, select ‘Edit buttons,’ and drag the ‘Screen recorder‘ into the available buttons. If you have the Bixby voice assistant activated, simply say “Hey Bixby, start a screen recording.”
Regardless of how you start, the Galaxy S22 will ask if you want to record with no sound, media noises (such app and game audio), or both your microphone and media sounds. Then just tap ‘Record‘.
Change screenshot/screenrecord settings
There are a few options for snapshots and screen recordings under the Advanced features area of the Settings program. You may disable the popup toolbar, erase shared screenshots, and alter the image format (PNG or JPG). The status and navigation bars may also be hidden in images, which is useful if you want a clean image without removing all your alerts.
When that function is activated, you may adjust the default sound input option, the video file quality, and the size of your selfie camera. So there’s not much to fiddle with in the system settings.
