What’s new in Snapdragon 7 series SoC?

Qualcomm is apparently preparing to debut a new Snapdragon 7 series processor in the mid-range segment. Although the business has not made any formal announcements on the SoC, famed leaker Digital Chat Station believes it will have ARM Cortex-A710 and Cortex-A510 cores.

According to a recent post on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo, Digital Chat Station’s future Snapdragon 7 series processor would be manufactured using the 4nm technology. However, it is unknown if the device will be built by TSMC or Samsung. According to reports, the octa-core chipset would have four Cortex-A710 performance cores running at 2.36GHz and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores running at 1.8GHz. Additionally, the processor will include an Adreno 662 GPU.

According to these reported specifications, we believe the future Snapdragon 7 series CPU will be a premium mid-tier offering that will sit directly behind the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagship chip. For those who are unfamiliar, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 also features Cortex-A710 performance and Cortex-A510 efficiency cores. However, it replaces one of the Cortex-A710 cores with a more powerful Cortex-X2 core, providing a noticeable performance boost.

The Snapdragon 7 series CPU, on the other hand, is not as capable of doing graphically intense activities as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, which boasts a more powerful Adreno 730 GPU. It may be comparable (or perhaps superior) in terms of graphics performance than the earlier Snapdragon 888, which included an Adreno 660 GPU. However, we won’t know for certain until we get our hands on a gadget equipped with the new processor. Given Qualcomm’s failure to make a formal announcement, it might be months before phones equipped with the next technology become available.

According to Qualcomm’s new streamlined branding, the forthcoming Snapdragon 7 series processor might be dubbed the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. However, Qualcomm has not confirmed the branding at this time. We’ll update this article as soon as we learn more about the new mid-range SoC.
