DropPoint: Improve drag-and-drop on all desktop OS

Drag-and-drop operations are supported in Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. DropPoint is an open source cross-platform program that simplifies drag-and-drop on all three desktop OSes.

It can take time to drag files from one place to another. Before you can start the drag-and-drop process, you may need to open a second window and put it next to the first one.

DropPoint changes the way the process works by adding a part of the screen that is always visible and can be used to store files temporarily. All you have to do is drag all of the files onto the screen element and then drag them from the element to the destination. It’s like a shopping basket, but for files and folders. Shift-Caps Lock on Windows and Linux systems and Shift-Tab on Mac OS systems is a keyboard shortcut that makes the element show up or hide on the screen.

DropPoint works on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. When the program is first run, Windows may show a SmartScreen warning.

It is an Electron application, which means that it is quite big compared to other applications of the same kind. Tools like SmartCopyTool, TeraCopy, and Copy Handler make it easier to copy files. In 2008, we reviewed Piky Basket for Windows, which was the first specialized program we looked at.

DropPoint has a few features that users may find useful. In addition to being able to run on different platforms, it can also run on virtual desktops and workspaces. The usage is always the same. Drop the files you want to copy onto the DropPoint element on the screen, and then drag them from the element to where you want them to go.

You can do multiple drags onto the element to gather files from different places before sending them to where you want them to go.

The open source tool can only be used to copy. You still need to use other tools if you want to move files.

DropPoint is a useful open source program that makes it easier to drag and drop on desktop computers. It’s easy to use and does what it says it will do. The biggest problem with using the tool is that it is big compared to copy tools that are available for all operating systems.
