Roam Research

Published on

Roam is a virtual environment for organizing and assessing knowledge. The system is based on a directed graph, freeing it from the limitations of the traditional file tree. Each piece of information is a node in a dynamic network, allowing users to remix and link ideas in numerous hierarchies that overlap.

Any given node can simultaneously occupy numerous places, send information through established relationships, and update the graph with changes. With weights added to the strength of links between nodes, Roam becomes a decision-making and Bayesian inference tool. The ultimate objective is to expand the system to support collaborative thinking, enabling groups to construct shared mental maps and make quicker, more informed judgments.
