Xiaomi 13 may have Snapdragon 8 gen 2

Published on

Xiaomi 13 will be introduced later this year, but a fresh rumor claims it will be the first gadget using Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The new chipset will have a redesigned layout and 4nm technology.

According to regular leaker Abhishek Yadav, Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship SoC would be referred to as Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with the product number SM8550. Although this is not unexpected, the next chip’s CPU arrangement will be 1 + 2 + 2 + 3. Yes, this is the same 8-core architecture as its predecessor, but the firm will reportedly launch more powerful Cortex cores that promise up to a 30% improvement in performance.

Complementing this new core design is an enhanced Adreno 740 GPU. Unfortunately, there are no data regarding the performance of this new graphics unit in comparison to the Adreno 730 found on the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and the SD 8G1 basic model.

Typically, Qualcomm releases SoC updates around the end of the year. We anticipate that the SD 8G2 will become official in November, with the Xiaomi 13 event following shortly thereafter.

The next Xiaomi 12 Ultra will likely utilize the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 instead of the SD 8G2. The flagship smartphone is widely expected to include four cameras branded with the Lecia name. In addition, the leaked render photos of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra reveal a fresh design for the rear camera bump and curved edges.
