Microsoft is redesigning Task Manager for Windows 11. Most proposed improvements re-paint the Task Manager but do not modify its functionality.
In the forthcoming update, users may choose between bright and dark settings. The Task Manager sections appear as tabs on the left side of the full view interface.
Many Windows users are aware that the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Alt-Esc may be used to activate the Task Manager.
When the Task Manager is active, users will soon be able to utilize the following keyboard shortcuts to do certain tasks:
- Alt-N — to initiate a new task. To launch the task, press Alt-N to show the interface, input the executable file name, and then press Enter.
- Alt-E — to terminate the currently chosen process. To end a task, select it in the task listing and press Alt-E.
- Alt-V — toggling the specified process’s efficiency mode. Efficiency Mode limits the application’s resource use while it is operating.
- Ctrl-Tab — cycle through the Task Manager’s pages (exists already in Stable).
- Ctrl-Shift-Tab — reverses the order of the Task Manager’s pages (exists already in Stable).
Numerous further actions are possible, all of which are shown at the top of the Task Manager page. These can also be done by pressing the Alt key and selecting the appropriate trigger. By pressing the Alt key, the accessible keys in the interface are highlighted.
Windows users who prefer keyboard shortcuts over touch- and mouse-based tasks may like the Windows Task Manager’s new shortcuts. While these may expedite the process, one of them, Alt-E to terminate a process, is already supported. By pressing the Del key on the keyboard, the Task Manager’s selected task is already terminated.
