Major iOS 16 and watchOS 9 updates at WWDC 2022

Beginning with iOS 16, Bloomberg’s correspondent expects “major enhancements across the board, including an upgrade to alerts and additional health-tracking tools.”

Regarding a makeover, Gurman believes Apple would avoid a “end-to-end revamp of iOS’ UI, despite the fact that it hasn’t altered significantly since iOS 7.”

A fascinating tip concerns the possibility of a new iPadOS multitasking interface. Apple did make it simpler for consumers to take use of multitasking features with iPadOS 15, but not in the way that pro users anticipated. Perhaps iPadOS 16 will finally put an end to that.

Apart from iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, Gurman speculates that the Apple Watch “may receive significant activity and health monitoring enhancements.” Previously, the writer predicted that this year will be a banner year for the Apple Watch range, with three new watches slated to debut later this year, as detailed here.

Finally, Gurman reiterates that Apple is unlikely to say anything about its Mixed Reality headset, despite the fact that iOS 16 should be packed with it. He writes as follows:

As far as I am aware, a complete launch of the mixed-reality headgear is still unlikely in June, but beta versions of iOS 16—codenamed Sydney—are replete with references to the headset and its interactions with the iPhone.

This means that the headgear will arrive during the iOS 16 cycle, which begins in June and concludes in the fall of 2023 with iOS 17. However, it is possible that Apple may provide an early sample of some of its planned augmented and virtual reality technologies. Perhaps we’ll even get to see a glimpse of the headset’s rOS, or reality operating system.
